Uganda Natural Anaerobic Specialty Coffee

Talk about African specialty coffee and the conversation usually starts with Ethiopia and Kenya. But Uganda holds remarkable potential in the specialty world. This exceptional lot, from small, carefully selected farms, is here to change that perception and prove Uganda can stand alongside the most established coffees in the world.

At 2,200 meters above sea level, Arabica trees grow slowly under cool mountain mist. That slow pace gives the cherries time to absorb nutrients and concentrate natural sugars inside the bean. Then the processing adds another layer of complexity.

The Process: Anaerobic Natural

The cherries ferment anaerobically in a sealed, oxygen-free environment, then dry whole in the sun, skin on, as in a traditional natural process. This combination deepens the fruit sweetness and builds a rich structure, while keeping the flavor pure and clean.

Cup Notes

The cup opens with deep, concentrated pomegranate, followed by ripe cherry that adds fruity sweetness, and closes with a touch of cacao nibs that gives the cup a distinctive depth. Light-to-medium body, with a bright, medium-to-high acidity that keeps the cup lively from the first sip to the last.

Roast Approach

A considered roast, chosen to preserve the clarity of the fruit notes and the clean cup that the anaerobic process created.

We recommend brewing Uganda Natural Anaerobic as filter (V60) or any pour-over method that gives the coffee enough time to reveal its fruit layers one after another.
